Sophie Navarro - My Art Process

Edited by Antonio Ochoa

I have been adding new content to my You Tube Channel and it has been so much fun creating new videos. I have found that as I am diving into my creative process, I have learned that the process itself is very important. The value I get in creating new art is deeply satisfying, connects me with a deeper self emerging and I love knowing that I can share this process with my dear friends, colleagues, new friends and the world. I am also seeing that those who I admire on You Tube have really inspired me deeply and I am starting to see how accessible these people are. It is no wonder they have become a success! They keep showing up, sharing their stories, ideas and visions. Now I am getting inspired to share too! Stay tuned!

Thank you for your support!

Getting Clear on being an artist By Sophie Navarro

August 30th, 2018

Upon reflecting over the summer, I have learned a great deal about love, loss and the journey back to self-love. I have learned huge lessons this year and as an artist, it can be very vulnerable. However, despite the growth, I value the unraveling. I value the energy that it brings. It actually clears my path and helps me get crystal clear about what it takes to be the artist I have always wanted to be.

It comes down to if you want it that much, you will be the only one that can do it. It has to come from knowing yourself deeply at the core. It has to be something you work on every single day and accomplish 1-2 goals for the day, no matter how small it may seem. You need to stay disciplined, focused and clear.

I have noticed this for myself and for my own art practice. There is an art between being an artist, a mother and a business woman. There are 3 different roles in one persona. However, each role overlaps the other. I have discovered that if I give too much of myself in one area and lose my balance, it is amazing how that can affect your work. It is important to have a balance of playfulness, fun and relaxation.

Today I remind myself to stay focused, present and disciplined within my art practice.

I also practice deep compassion for myself, my son and for my friends who are incredibly supportive. I think having a strong support network is very important as you navigate being an artist.

Balance is key in everything you do.

May you all stay balanced from within, smile more and laugh more!

Namaste,

March 18th, 2018 - Changes By Sophie Navarro

On Embracing Changes

As an artist, it can be a lonely path and often times a bit awkward. I am learning to embrace all the emotions that can come up while being on this path.

I have come to learn that chasing your dreams is no easy path. It is a courageous path. It is a path that will challenge every part of your life. I have been working very hard for the past 4 years on my Master's degree in Arts Management and I have to say I am so excited about it!

There is so much I have learned in the last 4 years. I have learned that you're never really ready to start a business or you're never really ready to do a presentation. There is always that little voice inside that says no, you're not ready. Nonetheless, when you push through all that discomfort, worry and stress, huge pay offs do come up in the end. There is nothing like accomplishing a deadline and knowing deep down you did it!

The research part of what I am working on right now is working on creating a guidebook for artists entrepreneurs who desire a career in the arts. My goal is to have a series of illustrations in a graphic novel format with a few chapters. These chapters will give some insight on important goals to have in mind when starting your business and how to sustain your art business.

Stay tuned for new videos and updated blog posts! It's time to honor that creativity!
